1) MARCH 19TH - WHAT IS ORGANIC ALL ABOUT? (FREE)
In this class I will be discussing  what the organic concept is all about. The difference between conventional and organic growing methods. How growing organically is beneficial to our health and the environment. I will also give a brief overview of the continuing workshops that I am offering. This class is FREE!

2) MARCH 26TH – SEED STARTING AND RESOURCING ($10)
This class will show you the benefits and the how-to of starting your own seeds, when to transplant and hardening off. Including how to easily build an inexpensive seed starting stand that doesn’t take up a huge amount of space. There will also be seed starting equipment that you can see, as well as the pros and cons of each. And OOHH the seed catalogs!

3) APRIL 2ND – GARDENING METHODS AND PREPARING YOUR GARDEN ($10)
This class will show you the different methods of gardening. Weather you live in a rural area and can have a large garden, or just a small village plot. How to get the most out of the space you have. For the city dweller this includes edible landscaping and container gardening.

4) APRIL 9TH – THE WONDER OF BEES ($10)
This fascinating class is given by a local bee keeper.  Learn about the extraordinary life of bees, and why the honeybee populations are in decline. Vince’s assistant Mary Ann will talk about gifts of the hive, to include soaps, salves, lotions and potions. Don’t miss this one!

5) APRIL 16TH – COMPOSTING-THE KEY TO HEALTHY SOIL ($10)
Learn the alchemy of turning garbage into gardening gold. This is one of the most important components of gardening. Learn the different methods of producing compost, as well as its many applications in the garden.

6) APRIL 23RD – BUILDING THE SOIL ($10)
This class expands on composting and teaches you how to improve your soil through cover cropping, mulching, manure application and organic amendments. Healthy soil is the key to organic gardening.

7) APRIL 30TH – PLANTING ($10)
The how and when of planting your transplants and seeds for the greatest success, as well as the initial care your young plants need to get them off to a healthy start.

8) MAY 7TH – MAINTENANCE AND HARVESTING ($10)
Tips on how to make your garden as low maintenance as possible. This includes weed prevention, watering, mulching, fertilizing, pest control, the basics of keeping your garden going strong.

9) MAY 14TH – FILM / THE FUTURE OF FOOD ($10)
This is one of the most informative and enlightening documentaries on the impact of huge agricultural corporations such as Monsanto. This will wake you up to the impact of what we buy and where we buy our food. Guaranteed to make you stop and think. There will be a round table discussion following.

10) MAY 21ST – FOOD FOR HEALTH ($10)
This class will be given by local health and wellness coach, Maggie Dydymus.  We will explore,”How food changes everything”, from your moods, cravings and overall health. What the benefits are, of eating seasonally.  What you can add into your diet for optimal energy and what foods to downsize.  This will be a fun class with some food tasting and recipe sharing.
